At genussland.de, Italian red wine doesn't mean Chianti and Barolo, but South Tyrol and Lake Garda. A conscious regional limitation to alpine wines with acidity and structure — instead of sunny Tuscan cuvées, which would be missing from the assortment without adding anything.
Lagrein is the dark, tannic classic from Bolzano — black berry, violet, often aged in wood. Vernatsch (Schiava) is the light counterpart: pale red, drinkable at 14 °C, with cherry and forest floor notes. Manincor, Kurtatsch, and Kellerei Tramin showcase both grape varieties. From Lake Garda come Cabernet, Merlot, and Refosco blends with Burgundian-restrained fruit.
Stylistically, these wines are separated by the alpine altitude from the southern European classics. Serve Vernatsch at 14–15 °C, Lagrein at 16–17 °C — two temperatures, two worlds.
